Welcome to Thinky Things!
No matter how many times you read the Bible, there is always something new and challenging to find - something to make you think, and hopefully, to act on what you learn. It is a real honour to be able to share some of the new and challenging things I find in the Bible with you through Thinky Things.
Over time this ministry has grown from the personal meditations of a young man (me) trying to get back to God, to now, where we have books, weekly emails, facebook pages, Thinky Things and Marriage Moments.
My aim is to encourage you toward God's kingdom and to help you grow closer to Him as you become more like Him. So please, make the most of the resources we can share with you, and allow me the privilege of being able to make a difference to your walk with God. Subscribe to the emails, join us on Facebook, and check out our books.
As well as Thinky Things, my wife, Sharon, and I, have a heart for marriage. In Marriage Moments and our book, That We May Be One, we want to share some of the things that have made a difference to us and have helped our marriage grow stronger. We share some really practical ideas to help you grow a great marriage.
In the end it's all about love - love for God, love for each other, and love for our husband or wife. God is love, and when we love, we begin to show the character of God in our lives. I hope Thinky Things and Marriage Moments helps point you in the right direction toward showing the love of God in every area of your life.
Our latest addition to the Thinky Things family of books is Resisting the Devil. It's a really practical book to help take you (and me) from being a slave to sin, to becoming a child of God. Check it out!
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
Have you ever read a chapter of the Bible, closed the book and then realised that you had forgotten everything you had read? That is what had been happening to me. I would read the Bible but not take the time to listen to what God was saying to me through it. Things had to change! So armed with a page-for-a-day diary and a pen, I began to think about the message God was speaking to me through his word, and to write those thoughts in the diary. The contents of the Thinky Things books, this website and the weekly e-mails are some of them. Stopping to think about what God is telling me has certainly changed my life.
I still have a long way to go, but little by little we can change to become more like Christ. It is only by listening to God’s word that we can learn to live in the way he wants from us.
I pray that as you read through some of these Thinky Things, you will be encouraged to open your Bible and listen to God speaking yourself. I hope that it will encourage you to think about what the Word of God says to you, and to put it into practice. And most of all
I pray that it will give you the strength and encouragement you need to commit your life to the Lord.
May the Lord open your eyes as you read his word.
