Celebrating 25 years of Thinky Things!
2 Chronicles 6
IN YOUR HEART
If David had the opportunity, he would have built a temple for the LORD. In fact, David would have started building if the LORD hadn’t put a stop to his plans some years before. But David was told that his son Solomon was to be the one who would build a house for the name of the LORD.
Solomon said this: “My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. But the LORD said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood – he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’” (2 Chronicles 6 v 7 – 9).
When a man finds a woman he loves, he might have it in his heart to give her flowers, sing her love songs, take her to a fancy restaurant or buy her jewellery. What do we have in our hearts to do for the LORD our God? What would we do if we could? What can we do now? A man might not be able to afford the beautiful diamond ring for his bride, but he would if he could.
Let’s make sure our hearts are full of love for our God, and that we have it in our hearts to do our best in whatever we do for him.
May we give our best to God this week.
