They look great with hard covers and metal spiral binding, along with all the features you have come to expect in a Thinky Days diary. It’s been a long wait, and for those of us in New Zealand, it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer because the Kiwi ones are still in transit, due to land today, and then have to process through customs.

Zechariah 4
EYES EVERYWHERE

Every child is aware that somehow their parents seem to have eyes in the back of their head. Parents are often able to ‘see’ what is going on behind them without appearing to look. The parents, on the other hand, often wish they did have eyes in the back of their heads so they could really keep a better eye on the children!

It is not like that between ourselves and God. We can’t get away with things behind his back, and when we do what is right, we can be sure he will see it no matter how secretly we do it.

Zechariah asked, “For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.” (Zechariah 4 v 10 NKJV).

If God’s eyes rejoice to see the plumbline, then they can distinguish between the crooked and the straight, the good and the bad.

Setting up a foundation doesn’t look much, but if the first lines are not straight and the part of the building under the ground is not level, the whole building will be crooked. So it is with our lives. It is the thousands of little things we do which make up our character in the sight of God. One occasional heroic act does not equal character.

God is watching even when we think his back is turned. His eyes can see even in the little things, whether good or evil. Let’s make sure our days are full of small things that show our faithfulness.

May we live the rest of this year to the glory of God in every area of our lives.
