As we celebrate 25 years of Thinky Things, I am pleased to say that the long-awaited Thinky Things 3 books are now available!.I am so looking forward to being able to share them with you! See below for more information.

THE HONOUR OF THE ANOINTING

I remember the occasional prize certificate for achievement or contributions when I was at school. It felt like such an honour to get an award for Second Place in Engineering, although looking back, about 300 other people were getting similar awards.

When Moses was instructed to make the anointing oil, it was to be used to anoint both the tabernacle and the priests. They were told, “It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.” (Exodus 30 v 32 ESV).

So much for my school prizegiving. This honour of being anointed with the holy oil was for only five people out of about three million. What an honour that must have been!

David mentioned the precious oil and the time Aaron was anointed in one of the psalms. He compared it to unity, saying, “how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133 v 1). This paints a picture of the precious unity we have in Christ, and what an incredible honour it is to be part of that unity in God’s family.

To be part of God’s family is like being that one-in-a-million anointed with the beautiful aroma of holiness. Wow!

May God fill us all with unity in him this week.
