Leviticus 27
OUR VALUE

When anyone made a vow that included valuing people, God supplied a chart of valuation to show how much people were worth depending on their gender and age. But what is interesting about this, is that no one person had a higher or lower value than any other in their category.

“The valuation of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.” (Leviticus 27 v 3 ESV). In this case the value of both Moses and the blind cripple who had been carried out of Egypt was the same. They were both worth 50 shekels.

We might feel like we have a great leadership position or that our wealth or skills make us greater than those around us, but we are not. On the other hand, we might feel like we are weak and unable to contribute like the super-achievers around us do, but we are worth no less to God.

To God, all of us are sinners, but we are all are worth saving from sin and death. There will be rewards for our service, but our value in the sight of God remains the same. The difference comes in how we respond to him as opposed to who we are or what we can do.

Let’s be thankful for the love of God that has touched us this week.

With love in our Lord,
Robert
