Proverbs 24
PLANT YOUR GARDEN

When we built our first house, my father-in-law gave me some great advice. Even before the builders had started putting up the walls of the house, he told us to go and plant our fruit trees and our vegetable garden. We did, and it was great advice. Our small fruit trees took years to grow, but we were glad they had a head start. And when we moved into our new house our vegetable garden was already producing.

It turns out the advice my father-in-law gave actually came from Proverbs. The wise man said, “Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that build your house.” (Proverbs 24 v 22).

The same can apply to our spiritual lives each day. Plant spiritual seeds first thing in the morning, and then go out and work on your house. Read God’s word and spend time in prayer before you get into the mundane activities of daily life. That way the seeds we planted can grow and we will be quicker to bear good fruit for our Lord.

Let’s seek God early each day this week.

With love in our Lord,
Robert
