Hebrews 12
LET IT GO

In Isaiah we learn that Jesus bore our griefs, carried our sorrows, was pierced for out transgressions, and on him was laid the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53 v 4 – 12). He took all the bad stuff away from us to leave us with only the love, joy and peace God wants us to have.
But darkness cannot be taken from our lives if we won’t let go of it. If I keep hanging on to my guilt, sorrow and grief, I am never going to be free of it. That’s where Hebrews 12 comes in. After telling us of the rewards God’s people of faith will receive with us, the writer to the Hebrews says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12 v 1 ESV).
God wants to take away our burdens of sin and whatever else is troubling us, so let’s let him do his best work in us and lay aside our pain, suffering, sin, iniquities, and anything else that holds us back so that he can take it and we can have joy in the Lord.
May we lay down our burdens at the foot of the cross this week.
With love in our Lord,
Robert
