2 Samuel 23
LEADERSHIP

Leadership. It’s something we would all like to possess and also something we need to see in others. Some of the things we look for in a good leader are the ability to make good decisions, charisma, personality, communication skills, courage, stickability and strength, all coupled with the knowledge to lead in that particular area of life.

But here is what God told David about leadership: “The God of Israel has spoken; the Rock of Israel has said to me: When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God, he dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.” (2 Samuel 23 v 3 – 4 ESV).

David was one of the world’s greatest leaders. He led well because he sought justice and feared the LORD. All the other qualifications we might see are secondary to doing what is right and obeying God. Let’s look for leaders that are just and fear God. And let’s be those leaders for the people around us.

May we seek and show godly leadership in our lives this week.

With love in our Lord,
Robert
