1 Kings 22
PERSISTENT
Jehoshaphat was looking for a prophet of the LORD in Israel. 400 prophets stood before Ahab, but none of them were prophets of the LORD. Reluctantly Ahab requested Micaiah to appear before him. He said, “There is yet one man by whom we may enquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil.” (1 Kings 22 v 8 ESV).
It seems that Ahab had previously met Micaiah a number of times, and had always had the same experience. Micaiah was persistent in his message, despite his constant rejection by Ahab.
Just as Ahab was persistent in doing evil, Micaiah was persistent prophesying evil against Ahab. However, unlike Ahab, Micaiah was a godly man who never wavered in telling Ahab the truth.
Let us also be persistent in doing and saying what God wants us to do and say. Like Micaiah let’s never give up.
