Galatians 3
BELIEF

We have a statement of faith in our fellowship that was penned about 200 years ago. It is short, to the point and references plenty of Bible verses to back up the statements it makes. Because it is so brief, it is easy to memorize – and many people have done so as they prepare for baptism. These are the things we believe are true, but it is not what we know that is going to save us. We need to have a shift from what we know to what we believe and can act on in our lives in perfect faith.
Paul asked the Galatians, “Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?” (Galatians 3 v 2). Their belief in the salvation offered through Jesus Christ was the catalyst to them receiving the Spirit. It was not the facts they memorized or the rituals they kept that gave them God’s grace; it was their trust in God’s plan of salvation and forgiveness.
Let’s never reduce our faith to a series of bullet points, but live it out in practice, showing that we truly believe it. Let’s let it produce fruit in our lives, proving that we believe what we say.
May we live lives that show what we believe this weekend.
With love in our Lord,
Robert
