1 Chronicles 25
TRAINED AND SKILLED

The list of people in 1 Chronicles 25 describes the singers and musicians David appointed to praise the LORD from the temple Solomon was soon to build. There were 24 groups of singers. Each one was a family group, under the supervision of their fathers. But these were no random groups of musicians. We read that, “all of them [were] trained and skilled in music for the LORD.” (1 Chronicles 25 v 7).
It is all very well to have an aptitude for any particular skill or job, but that is only the first part. Any of the best musicians, tradesmen, authors, artists and other skilled people, have also learnt from others and practiced their calling to excel at it.
God wants us to become the best we can be to give glory to him. We might be good at something, but let’s put the effort in to train and to practice, to refine our skills, so that we become better still. Especially if we are doing it for God.
May we continue to grow our talents this week.
With love in our Lord,
Robert
