2 Chronicles 5
SAME GOD, MORE GLORY

Despite the temple itself being twice the size of the tabernacle, the altar being much bigger than the original bronze altar, and the lampstands and tables multiplying, the one thing that stayed the same from the tabernacle to the temple was the ark of the covenant. Not only did Solomon not make a bigger and better one, the ark that went into the temple was the same ark that was in the tabernacle. However, there was one difference: the poles used to carry the ark appear to be longer than the original poles.

The ark was the most holy item in the temple. If anything represented God, the ark was it. And God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His character is still the same. His laws are still the same, his signs and provision are still the same. His word is still the same. He is constant. The same God can fill a bigger temple, can fill more people, and can receive a greater portion of glory. That’s why the temple and its furnishings grew, but the ark representing God stayed the same.

We can rely on God. He is always the same. But as we rely on him, let’s make sure our worship and service to him continue to grow.

May our worship and service to God continue to grow this week this week.

With love in our Lord,
Robert
